Concerts and Festivals

We present an evening of music in an artistic and engaging way. We offer well paced, professional sets with high energy banjo and fiddle music that reflects where we are from in Kentucky and Virginia, warm-hearted songs to lift people up and fun specialty instrumentals that show our love for the artistry of music. We share with people a bit of our personality and talk a little about the music we play. We hope that people will connect with us through our music.

Our approach to bluegrass is a blend of inspired instrumentals and Jennifer's sweet, pure voice. Our shows always include banjo music, but also trio vocals, guitar flatpicking, mandolin, fiddle and upright bass. Influences include musical styles similar to bluegrass such as blues, gospel and rockabilly. Please check out tracks from our new CD, “Hit the Road and Go.” Some of our upbeat instrumental numbers include the banjo originals “Gracie” and “Katy, Bar the Door," and Michael's colorful guitar tune, "Mcintosh." While most of our music features Jennifer's warm, effervescent voice, we can include some specialty instrumental numbers such as “The Lady of Spain” (on two banjos), “El Cumbanchero” and Michael's arrangement of Mozart’s “Rondo Ala Turk” on 5-string banjo.

Recent feedback

"Wonderful folks to work with!  Very talented performers!  The crowd really enjoyed Michael and Jennifer McLain & the Banjocats performance.  I can't say enough good things.  They were awesome!  We look forward to working with them in the future.  We would highly recommend this group for any event!

Kara B., Jamestown Bluegrass Festival, Jamestown, TN

"Thank you so much for performing at our event! You all were so nice. Even with it turning cold that evening, the stage presence, sound, and interaction with the crowd were wonderful. You are definitely an A+ in my book."

Crystal G., Mid-South Barbecue Festival, Mount Pleasant, TN

"CLASS ACT!!! Brilliant Talent! I couldn't offer a higher recommendation to any musical act I've ever seen. Sound, stage, and lighting was perfect. Their performance was joyful, and has truly been refined into an artful expression of classic bluegrass music and southern grace. Michael and Jennifer McLain themselves bring a joy to their music that made our event feel like something very special was being honored. The event will be one of my family's most fond memories for years to come. Certainly, in great part to the genuine, heartfelt music that the McLains offered our family. I felt we were VERY lucky to have found them."

Clinton U., Covington, GA
"Everyone had a great time (including the kids) listening to authentic bluegrass sounds. Michael and the band were so professional, friendly and accommodating - though our group was somewhat spread out due to the "festival" atmosphere, they still had great energy and helped to keep the momentum of the event happy & uplifting. It was also a plus to have recorded music between sets so that the energy of the event continued throughout. We would definitely consider using them again for future events. I highly recommend the Banjocats!

Irene H, Harvest Festival, Cumming, GA
